Blu is a domesticated Macaw who never learned to fly, and lives a perfectly happy life with his owner, Linda, in Moose Lake, Minnesota. Although Blu and Linda think he is the last of his species, they soon catch wind of a female Macaw, Jewel, living in Rio de Janiero.
Blu and Linda embark on an adventure to find Jewel, but their trip isn't without mishaps. When Blu and Jewel are kidnapped, Blu must face his flying fears, thwart the kidnappers, and find his way back to Linda. Will he make it?
