Life of Pi

Rated: PG

Based on Yann Martek's novel, this movie follows Pi, the young son of a zookeeper. When his family decides to take a journey across the ocean with all their animals, Pi looks at it as another adventure in his already idyllic childhood. However, disaster strikes while on the high seas, and the ship is wrecked and sunk, taking with it his parents and most of their beloved animals. Pi suddenly finds himself on a life raft surrounded by an orangutan, a hyena, and a Bengal tiger. While the mere act of surviving is a struggle, Pi finds comfort and friendship in the most unlikely source among the animals — the tiger.

Nominated for: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Music (Original Score), Best Music (Original Song), Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing
