Common Household Items
Have your child gather the household items into their suitcase. Pretend that the suitcase is full of artifacts he or she brought home from an expedition to another planet or a world that only exists in the imagination. Your child can pull the items out of a suitcase, one by one, and explain what they are, their history and value, and how the imaginary folks use them.
Even the souvenirs that look ordinary are likely to have a rich story behind them. For example, a rumpled piece of paper can be an indigenous mineral, crystal or plant; a decorated cardboard tube folded at the end could be an umbrella, a hat can be a special brain-wave enhancer, and a piece of recycled aluminum foil can be a special communications device used to reach out and touch other beings in the universe!
