Pasta Finery and More
Materials:
- Tubular pasta
- string
- Cheerios
- straws
- caps
- art supplies
- chopstick or long-handled spoon
Uncooked noodles are perfect for making necklaces and artistic creations. Here are some starter suggestions.
Your child can simply string small noodles to make the necklace, or he or she can make a more elaborate creation by decorating the noodles with paint or markers, or gluing on glitter or sequins. For variety, your child might add other food items like Cheerios, half-inch lengths of straws, or plastic caps with holes (punched by you).
In addition to making necklaces, your child can make pasta wall hangings that will liven up any kitchen. Tie eight to ten two-foot-long pieces of string to a long-handled wooden spoon or a chopstick, and have your child thread the strings through noodles and other items. The end of the string should be tied to the last item.
When your child is done making the finery or wall hanging, display the artwork prominently for all family members to see after dinner. Perhaps your child will even let older siblings or you or your spouse wear the finery to school or work!
