Living Life Upside Down

by Steve Bennett

Upside Down

Kids 6 - 10

Required:Just Your Time

Do you sometimes feel as though you don't know which end is up? Here's an activity that proves it doesn't matter -- life can be fun either way! Ask your child to imagine that a cosmic blast of uncertain origin turned the planet Earth and everything on it, except human beings, upside down. Have your child describe how familiar objects, such as automobiles, trees, and houses, would appear.

Then ask your child how people could accomplish everyday tasks, such as getting dressed, feeding the dog, or doing homework. Are there any chores that would pose insurmountable difficulties? What inventions can your child think of that would enable us to do them anyway?

Whatever you do, it will be fruit for thought.
