In Your Child's Own Words

Materials:

Directions:

Wouldn't you like to hear what you thought and did when you were young, in your own words and your own voice? Well, you can't go back in time, but you can help your child record his or her feelings and experiences on tape and create a treasure that will be appreciated for many years.

To begin, have your child tell you about some important events in his or her life in the past week or month. Encourage him or her to include anything at all that comes to mind (your child may find it helpful if you go first by telling something about what you've been doing). Some topics to include are school experiences, activities with friends, visits with relatives, or family outings. Once your child is ready, set up a tape recorder with a blank tape so he or she can begin recording a diary on tape.

Who knows, these tapes may end up as part of a documentary when your child grows up to be a famous person.
