Isn't it nice to hear life stories of family members in their own words? Why not have your child conduct a biographical interview with siblings or friends? Here are some sample questions to begin with for younger and older subjects:
For Younger Subjects
Who's in your family? Who are your friends? What's your favorite playtime activity? Which books and songs do you like best? What is your favorite thing at school? Which color do you like the most?
For Older Subjects
Were you named for anyone? Where did you grow up? What were your favorite things to do as a child? How have things changed since you were a child? What is the funniest thing that's ever happened to you? What advice can you give to others?
Encourage your child to think of more questions to ask, including follow-up questions during the interview. He or she can also create an autobiographical tape by answering the same interview questions on camera.
