My Strangest Case
Directions:
Here's a great way to pass some time in a waiting roomand, if it happens to be the waiting room of the doctor or dentist, defuse a little anxiety.
Take turns imagining that you're the doctor or dentist, and that you're relaying the strangest case of the day, like the person who swallowed a tuba and every time he exhaled he sounded like a foghorn. Perhaps as a dentist, you've seen a young fellow who brushed his teeth with white glue by mistake and couldn't open his mouth.
This activity works well in any waiting room situation. Perhaps you're waiting for an oil change or car repair; you and your child can take turns pretending you're the mechanic and describing oddities such as the person who locked an eggsalad sandwich in the glove compartment and lost the key.
You can also play this game by describing the problem and seeing if your child can guess what happened. You're bound to get some interesting answers. Perhaps the person who swallowed the tuba got a new job with the Coast Guard!
