Directions:
If cars could talk, what would they say? You and your child can decide for yourselves next time you're out walking.
Take some time to notice the cars that pass bypay special attention to the colors, sizes, shapes, and unusual features of the vehicles. Then ask your child to give an impromptu speech in the character of one of the cars. For example, if your child playacts a minivan, he or she might say, "I'm a strong vehicle, and my favorite pastime is to take families for long drives and keep them safe."
After your child finishes the speech, you can ask him or her such questions as: "Can you describe the family that owns you?" "Who is the most interesting passenger you've ever driven?" "What's your favorite route to drive?" and "What's the farthest you've ever traveled?" (Your child answers all questions in character.)
Your child can also playact such vehicles as bicycles, trucks, vans, airplanes, or any other modes of transportation you see in your travels. Now, what do you suppose that skateboard is thinking?
