Wherever you hail from, your family will no doubt find the downtown area of a new city or town interesting, especially when you compare it to home. Ask your kids questions like these, then log their answers in the Family Book of Observations.
Are the downtown buildings taller than those at home?
Are they old or new?
What are the buildings made of-brick, limestone, glass?
Do any of the buildings have gargoyles or other decorations?
Is the city hall similar to the one back home? Would you have recognized it as the town's seat of government?
Is the main library older or newer than the one in your city or town?
What are the churches and other religious buildings made of, and are they similar to those where you're from?
How about this one: Once you find the school, see if the playground structures are as much fun as those back home!
