Hotel Counts

Directions:

If your trip includes a stay at a hotel, here's something that turns exploring your surroundings into a fun activity. Set out with your kids in the spirit of exploration to find or count the following kinds of items. (Note: this activity is not intended to be done without supervision.)

  • Everything that contains the hotel's logo, from towels to insignias on uniforms
  • The number of drinking fountains
  • The number of pay telephones
  • The number of ice machines
  • The highest room number
  • The number of "Do Not Disturb" signs on doorknobs
  • The number of exit signs
  • The combined cost of all items on the restaurant coffee-shop menu
  • The number of plants in the lobby
  • The number of hotel employees in the lobby at any one time
When you finish this activity, you might want to send the results to the corporate offices. They'd probably appreciate having a group of experts on tap!
