Little Kids' Car Search

Directions:

They say that every person has a look-alike. Perhaps the same holds true for cars, minivans, campers, and the like. Can your child find a vehicle on the road that's a clone of yours?

Ask your child to scrutinize the cars, trucks, vans, and other vehicles that you pass. He or she then finds those that are of the same color as your own. Other find-it possibilities include license plates that contain one or more of the same letters or numbers as yours, vehicles that are of the same make or model, and those that contain the same passenger composition (for example, two grownups and one child).

You might set a time limit for each round. Encourage your child to find more blue cars or license plates that contain a Y than he or she did in the previous round. Or challenge your family to a car-search contest: Each participant gets a set amount of time to find cars matching a predetermined list of characteristics (color, number of passengers, etc.), and then see who comes up with the most look-alikes.

Did anyone spot a gray station wagon with two grownups, two kids, and a couple of cats? That's us!
