Sign Sentences
Directions:
"Services, Food, LodgingNext Exit 2 Miles."
How about using those ho-hum words in a sentence, like "Miles was two hours late for school the next day because all the food he ate was lodging in his teeth, and he couldn't get it to exit"?
If you get your children started building sentences from words on road signs, trucks, and billboards, they may not want to stop. And you may hear a lot about this guy Miles by the time you get home.
Encourage your kids to let loose with this game, and have everyone in the car try their creativity with whatever sign strikes his or her fancy. If you want to make it more challenging, have players take turns on whatever words they can spot in a fixed amount of time when it's their turn. Anyone who can use all the words on a sign gets a round of applause.
Hey, Dad, lets keep right on going to the next exit and get five ice-cream cones for Miles and his friends!
