Before and After

Materials:

  • Video camera
  • nontoxic cleaning supplies
Directions:

If you're of a mind to do some major housecleaning, why not capture the great results on tape?

First, enlist the help of your young videographer to "shoot" various rooms and their particular cleaning challenges. As your child takes the camera from room to room, he or she can describe how things look in their "before" state and point out what needs to be done.

Put the camera aside temporarily and have your child help you put everything in shipshape form (a great fringe benefit of this activity). Then show off your handiwork on camera: Have your child tape each room again (preferably in the same order as before) and narrate all of the improvements that have been made (pillows plumped, rugs vacuumed, closets straightened, and so on).

Whew, what a difference there is between "before" and "after." Now, how long do you think your home will stay in its new state?
