Flower Press

Materials

  • Heavy cardboard or plywood
  • Flat coffee filters
  • String or wide elastic
Directions
  1. First make the flower-press out of the cardboard or plywood.
  2. Cut two pieces twelve inches square.
  3. Place one on top of the other to make sure they fit neatly together.
  4. Cut two lengths of string or elastic (twenty-four inches).
  5. Gather flowers from your garden or when you are out on a nature walk.
  6. Keep them undisturbed until you get home.
  7. Place a coffee filter, opened flat, on the cardboard and carefully spread one or two flowers on it.
  8. Place another filter on top.
  9. Repeat until you have used up the flowers.
  10. Now place the other piece of cardboard on top.
  11. Tie securely with the string or elastic. You may need someone else to help you hold the layers down.
  12. Place the flower-press in a cool, dry place for several days.
  13. Gently open it to view or remove your dried, pressed flowers.
