Restaurant Reviewers

Directions:

Luckily, restaurants are becoming more responsive to the needs of families; offerings such as kids' meals and booster chairs are more the rule than the exception these days. Here's a restaurant activity that will also tempt your kids to try new things.

First, equip your reviewers with a notebook set aside for restaurant ratings. You may want to choose a scribe, or you can take turns among older children. Then, after leaving each new restaurant, take a few minutes to write down your family's ratings.

Remind everyone that they are writing the review as if someone had asked his or her advice. Try to answer questions like: "What was the best item on the menu? What was the best thing about the restaurant itself? What was the most unusual item offered?"

Most important, did you get a balloon as you left?
