House Hunting Challenge
Directions:
Do your kids really know what's in your house? They probably think so, but these hunting challenges will get them to take a closer look.
To play, simply have your children find different items in your house that fall in certain categories or have particular characteristics. Here are a few to start with:
Color matching. Have your kids pick something at random, then find ten items in the house that are the same color.
Double duty. How many items can your children locate that have more than one purpose, such as a stepstool/chair?
Two by two. Send your children through the house to find everything that comes in pairs, like shoes, bookends, socks, or closet door handles.
Majority rules. What single item in your house outnumbers all others? The answer can be practical (light switches) or silly (pieces of yarn in your carpet).
Opposites. Have your children find one pair of opposites (big/small, heavy/light, high/low) in every room.
On with the hunt!
