Junior Soothsayer
Materials:
- Writing supplies
- envelopes
- film canisters and other containers
Even if you don't have Chinese food tonight, you can enjoy fortune cookies. Have your child write out custom fortunes for each member of the family and place them in envelopes, empty film canisters, or other small containers. Your child can also help you set the table and place loose fortunes under family members' placemats or plates. The fortunes might focus on topics such as:
Upcoming events. "You will ace your history test."
Household events. "It will be sunny for our picnic on Sunday."
Fanciful thinking. "A great tornado will straighten up your room tomorrow."
Hopeful thinking. "Mom will bake your favorite cookies today."
Very hopeful thinking. "Dad will lose his new low-fat, low-salt, no-sugar cookbook."
So, what does the soothsayer believe your prospects are for getting through the day without an attack of cabin fever?
