Which Thing Came First?

Directions:

Your children are surrounded by gadgets, widgets, and inventions that affect almost everything they do—some very new, and some surprisingly old. Do your kids know when ice cream and bicycles were invented? Test their historical knowledge with this quiz.

Read this list of items to your kids and have them tell you which came first—you can read two at a time, or more for older children. After your children put the list in order, see how close they can come to getting the actual year for each invention.

  • modern bicycle—1880
  • ice cream—2000 B.C.E.
  • Model T Ford—1908
