Repealing Newton's Law
Directions:
What if it were possible to make anti-gravity machines? Ask your kids how the machines would:
Change the world. Would it be necessary to have elevators or escalators? Or could people simply float up inside tubes to whatever floor they wanted to go and grab hold of "floor handles?" How about anti-gravity boots; perhaps runners could simply "anti-grav" hop over obstacles.
Lead to new forms of entertainment. Maybe we'd see the first "Anti-Gravity Arena," where people bounced off foam ceilings, kind of like reverse bungee jumping. What other kinds of games and thrills can your kids envision?
Avoid misuse of the devices. How could we prevent mishaps, such as people floating off into space, or anti-gravity machines accidentally turning on and disrupting a whole building or community?
Once your kids have thought about these issues, pose this question: Would you want an antigravity machine, if somebody offered to build one for you?
