If your home library doesn't yet include a book about your family, then why not have your child make one or more?
Your child can write a fictional story that includes all family members in the plot. Other characters, real or imaginary (such as friends, neighbors, pets), can also be woven into the narrative. Or your child can chronicle a family event that really happened (the birth of a younger sibling, moving to a new home, visiting out-of-state relatives).
In addition to (or instead of) writing a storybook, your child can create a reference book about your family. He or she might include information about each family member, such as likes and dislikes, accomplishments, academic record, best personality traits, and plans for the future.
Once your child's literary work is finished, arrange to have the whole family read it together. This is one book that will speak volumes.
