Contour Line Art

Materials

  1. Drawing paper
  2. Black felt pen
  3. Crayons

Directions

Have your child make a large, closed shape, such as a heart, box, ball, or triangle with the black felt pen. Starting on the inside near the shape sedge, repeat the outline. Continue redrawing it, getting smaller and smaller until it cannot be repeated. Now, color in each contour with different colored crayons. Don't worry if your child goes over the lines. This activity can also be done in reverse; start with a small shape and draw several outlines on the outside. If you want more space to color, draw the next line further from the one that has already been drawn.
