Art Exploration

Materials

1. 1" or larger paintbrush, sponge, kitchen utensils
2. Large sheets of paper
3. Wooden spoons
4. Jar of water-based paint
5. Masking tape

Directions

Lay the paper on a flat surface and secure with tape. Show your child all the different ways to apply paint to paper—brushing, dabbing, flicking, and scraping. Encourage your child to experiment with a variety of applicators—brushes, sponge, spoons, and other kitchen utensils. Your child will explore not only the medium of art (paint) but also the tools that can be used to apply paint.
