String Block Printing

Materials

  • String or rope
  • Small blocks of wood
  • Tempera paint, liquid
  • Shallow pan
  • Paper

Directions

  1. Wrap string or rope several times around a small block of wood.
  2. Tie it in place (make sure the rope is distributed evenly over the block, not gathered in one spot).
  3. Have your child press the string block into liquid tempera paint, then press onto paper.
  4. She should move the block around in different directions and add colors to vary the design.
