2. Born Free (PG)
This is a lovely story of Elsa, a lioness raised as a pet by a game warden's family in Kenya. She's not your average housecat!

3. Raiders of the Lost Ark (PG)
The first and best of the Indiana Jones series has Indy chasing through jungle and desert, not to mention pits full of creepy things! Any shivering done while watching this movie will be from thrills, not chills.

4. African Queen (No rating)
When Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn start down a tropical river in their rickety boat, you know you're in for an adventure. Go along for a steamy ride as they conquer the elements, the enemy, and their fears.

5. Lawrence of Arabia (PG)
For older kids. When you pop this movie into the VCR, be sure to have plenty of ice water and sunblock on hand. This gorgeous 5-star story of British adventurer T.E. Lawrence sends you on a three-hour tour across burning Arabian sands beneath the blinding sun. Jack Frost won't stand a chance.

Frigid Flicks:
Not cold enough where you live? Here are five movies guaranteed to nip your nose and shiver your toes!

6. Never Cry Wolf (PG)
This is the story of author Farley Mowat, who lived alone in the Arctic tundra while he was studying wolves. Brrrr!! He learned about those beautiful animals, but probably even more about himself and humankind.

7. Ice Station Zebra (G)
Bundle up! We're heading to the North Pole with Rock Hudson at the helm of a submarine. This spy chasing movie shows the cold war at its chilliest!

8. Lost Horizon (1937 version - Not Rated)
Amid the snow and bitter cold of the Himalayas lies the mythical city of Shangri-La, where the orchards are heavy with tropical fruit, the libraries are filled with the great works of the world, and the people never grow old.

9. Downhill Racer (PG)
Grab your skis and head downhill with Robert Redford. Can't you just feel that cold air rushing by?

10. Doctor Zhivago (PG13)
This movie's got the heartbreaking love story, two dreamy stars, and a snapshot history of the Russian Revolution, but ask anyone who's seen it and what they remember is the snow! Look for the frost-covered cottage -- it's a fairy princess's dream come true.
