  • Neighborhood pet store

Directions

Children love to see animals, and a pet store is a good place to safely explore them while practicing observing and choosing. As you visit, challenge your child to pick her favorite. (Agree ahead of time that this trip is for looking only.)

Extensions

  • Pick the cutest, funniest, or laziest.
  • Talk about what each animal eats.
  • Visit a bookstore or library and look for pictures of baby animals, talking about what makes baby animals different from full-grown ones.
