Everyone seems to have his own favorite spots for hiding Easter eggs for the hunt. Below, parents share their knowledge of where to hide eggs, and where not to hide them!
Under the sofa cushions....bad idea!

There were five kids in our family and each year our parents hid five baskets full of an assortment of easter candy all around the house. Once, they hid one in the oven, and then my mother proceeded to pre-heat the oven to cook easter dinner. So, my brother's basket was ruined -- a puddle of chocolate and cane sugar syrup.

Never hide eggs or baskets in the oven or clothes dryer!

I'm 22, my brother is 25, and we still hunt for Easter Eggs quite competitively! In my extensive experience, I've found that the best place to hide eggs is in flower arrangements or flower pots -- where the egg has a chance to blend in with the other colors. The worst place is in the couch cushions -- we spent a good ten minutes cleaning up a broken egg that my granfather had sat on.

Several years ago our "older" kids (7 and 8 years old) decided to have an easter egg hunt for the neighborhood. They hid the eggs around the house. Unfortunately, we adults didn't know about this plan. When we found out, it was too late, and all we could do was hunt! Of course, the kids couldn't remember all the places they hid the eggs. Weeks later, we were still finding eggs in odd corners...

The clothes washing machine is great if it's not being used.

After years of cut-throat egg-hunting competition that often left me, the youngest, eggless and in tears, my mother came up with a new rule. We hunted for the little chocolate eggs that are wrapped in different color foils, so it was easy for her to assign each of us a color. I hunted for pink eggs. One of my brothers looked for blue, and the other one green. Purple eggs were up for grabs. This made the event more family-friendly. My brothers would actually help me find my eggs after they were done -- quite a change.

The worst place to hide an egg is in something, such as a drawer or a cabinet. I had a friend who dicovered one in the bottom drawer of her desk well after Easter. She had been smelling something unidentifiably foul for quite sometime!

The best place: on top of a tire (under the fender) of a parked car, assuming it's in the driveway. The worst place: near a busy road.
