he Incredibles follows the adventures of a family of former superheroes who rediscover the true source of their powers in one another. Once dubbed Mr. Incredible, Bob Parr was one of the world's top masked crime fighters, who fought evil and saved lives. But now, 15 years later, he and his wife Helen (also a former superhero) have been forced to retreat to the suburbs and live as ordinary citizens. Today they lead mundane lives with their children, who are also endowed with special powers. Working as an insurance man, Bob is bored and itching for action. He gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top-secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction.
High Comedy, Action, and Drama
Like other Pixar efforts, this feature-length cartoon is much more than a cartoon. The computer animation is technically dazzling, and the action sequences are exciting (the PG rating is due to action violence). But there are also levels of humor to amuse every age group, and there are scenes with some poignancy. Adults can identify with Bob's midlife doldrums, and children can gain new insights into what makes a family a family.
The voice actors are well cast, with Craig T. Nelson as Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl, and Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius Best/Frozone.
