Sell This Thing

by Steve Bennett

Kids 6 and up
Indoor activity
Required: common household objects.

First, designate a family sales person, and have him or her leave the room for two minutes. The rest of the family looks for several objects that can be combined to create a new "product." A string might be tied to a ruler, or a few buttons might be tied to a spatula.

The "salesperson" is called back, then is given three minutes to study the new invention and create a "strategy" for selling the "watchamacallit" to the rest of the family. He or she might want to describe all the wonderful things it could be used for, how it can improve all the sales "prospects'" lives, how much it costs, how it was made, where it was made, and the details of its quality construction. "Yes, this cotton ball/Popsicle stick nose buffer is made out of the FINEST hair found in any sow's ear..."

You'll never run out of inventory, and who knows...you just might invent the next blockbuster Ginzu Piano Key Stretcher!
