Jumping High

Time

  • 10 to 15 minutes

Materials

  • Soft object to grab
  • Piece of string or yarn

Directions

  1. Suspend an object above your toddler from the string and encourage reaching. First attempts will usually be stretches on the tiptoes.
  2. Demonstrate how to leap with a springy motion out of bent knees and be sure to help your child succeed by lifting him, if necessary.

Extensions

  • Help your toddler to stretch to full extension and talk about the feeling.
  • Challenge your toddler to jump for the object like a rabbit, putting his hands up for ears.
