Time

• 5 to 10 minutes

Materials

• Disconnected telephone

Directions

1. Pick up a phone and say, "Just a minute. I'll see if he's home....There's a phone call for you, (your child's name)..."
2. Continue the conversation until the child understands you are playing around and being silly and is enticed to join in.

Extensions

• Let a favorite doll or stuffed animal have a turn on the phone.
• Make a call to a friend or family member and let the child hear the voice on the line.
