These potpourri pot coasters will fill your friends' kitchens with a lovely lemon scent each time they brew a pot of tea.
Time frame: One to two hours
Level: Moderately easy
What you need:
Paper for template
Ruler
Masking tape
Two sheets of felt (I used light and dark brown, but blue and white would also be nice.)
Black permanent marker
Glue gun or sewing machine
Rickrack or trim
Small bag of lemon sachet
Make a dreidel pattern from paper. Using a ruler, draw a six x eight-inch rectangle on the paper. Fold the rectangle in half and cut off the bottom two corners to form the point of the dreidel. Cut out a two x one-inch tab for the top of the dreidel, and tape it onto the top of the rectangle. Now you're ready to trace your pattern onto the felt.
Place the pattern over the two pieces of felt and trace it with a marker. Cut the dreidel out of the felt. You should have two different-colored pieces of felt in the shape of a dreidel.
Using a glue gun or sewing machine, glue or sew all the ends together leaving a two-inch opening to add the sachet. Allow the glue to dry.
Decorate your dreidel by gluing or sewing rickrack or trim onto the outline as shown. Draw a Hebrew letter on the front with a permanent magic marker.
Pour the lemon sachet into the open end of the dreidel. (Make a paper cone or use a funnel for easy pouring.) Glue or sew the opening shut. Allow the glue to dry.
The heat from a hot pot or kettle will make the lemon aroma fill the kitchen.
