 Dear Fidel: Marita's Story (Lieber Fidel - Maritas Geschichte)
Description: A documentary about Marita Lorenz, possibly one of the most fascinating and controversial people of the 20th century, particularly in the realm of U.S.-Cuba relations. According to Lorenz herself, her life was one of almost unparalleled tragedy and intrigue. Raped by an American soldier at the age of seven, she also survived Bergen-Belsen and went on to become the lover of both Fidel Castro and a former Venezuelan dictator. If that wasn't enough, Lorenz also claimed to be an operative of both the FBI and CIA, and maintained that the latter sent her to Cuba to poison Castro. And, on top of everything else, questions still abound about Lorenz's possible connection to the Kennedy assassination: not only did she apparently visit Dallas with the CIA days before Kennedy was shot there, but she also was linked to Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby. Many critics doubt Lorenz's claims, which Dear Fidel attempts to address in thorough and thought-provoking detail.
