Everything You Wanted to Know
Description: The dark world of punk music meets the dark world of gay pornography in this revealing documentary. Writer/director John Roecker interviewed 16 men that perform in the world of gay adult films in an attempt to find out what makes them tick. What he found will defy your expectations. These men were incredibly bright, sensitive and inspiring, and not at all the shallow, plastic shells that they are stereotyped to be. Roecker also investigates to find out why film companies are not doing more to protect their stars. In a year and half 22 of the actors have died either from drug abuse or from complications due to HIV and yet the producers turn their heads from this ongoing epidemic. Additionally, Roecker explores the violence of the adult industry: he is one of the only people to gain an interview with Harlow Cuadra, a man imprisoned for allegedly killing a director. However, despite the dark and gritty subject matter, the documentary shows that the job does not necessarily make the man. The stories told are funny, uplifting and inspiring. This is real, raw entertainment at its finest.
