Genre:Drama
Release Date:January 1, 2002
Running time:132 minutes
Director:Girish Kasaravalli

Description: A family of three lives on an island that is endangered by the construction of a dam. Duggappa, his son Ganapa, and daughter-in-law, Nagi, live on an island in the middle of a recently dammed river. The father, like his father before him, is a priest at the temple of a local deity. On puja days he dresses himself like the deity and exhorts worshippers to believe in him. Though socially marginalized by his role as a performer, Duggappa wields considerable influence over the people on the island and those coming from the mainland to attend his performances. But when the water level begins to rise dangerously during the monsoon season, no one listens to the priest, who calls upon the community to have faith in him and remain on the island. All the residents, except Duggappa and his family, migrate to the mainland. The rains continue, threatening to drown the island and putting the family's beliefs to the test.
