Nelio's Story (Comedia Infantil)
Description: This Swedish-Mozambican-Portuguese co-production is based on a novel by popular Swedish author Henning Mankell, a resident of Mozambique. Jose (Joao Manja) is a baker in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. After Jose finds 10-year-old street-kid Nelio (Sergio Titos) bleeding from a gunshot wound, Nelio's account leads into a flashback: With a civil war in his village, he was taken to a training camp, but during a shooting lesson, he used the rifle against his captor and ran away. Approaching strangers for directions, he eventually arrived in the town where he joined other street kids, eliminating their exploitative boss and gaining a reputation as a healer. Finally, when the war neared the town, events from his past caught up with him. Shown at the 1998 Rotterdam Film Festival.~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide
