Description: This documentary feature film tells the story of a town forever altered by a crime, and the saga of an ongoing struggle between residents with competing views on the event's historical and economic significance. Shot on 16mm film over a five-year period, Villisca examines the effect of the crime on the town, the county, and the state in the decades following 1912. Over 50 interviews with scholars, criminologists, relatives of the victims, and town residents have been combined with hundreds of period photographs, documents, archival film, computer animation, original art, and the limited use of re-enactments to shed new light on the 91-year-old mystery and its long-term impact.
