Plastic Bag Witch Costume

Follow these simple directions to create a Plastic Bag Witch costume.

Plastic Bag Witch Costume

Time: Under 1 hour

Effort: Easy - no sewing required

Materials:

  • 3 black plastic garbage bags
  • Scissors
  • Witch hat
  • Black or stained top

Instructions: Take 1 black bag and cut it into a cape by cutting down one side after you have cut off the sealed end. Make holes about 2" apart at one end to thread a plastic tape through. (This you will make from one of the other bags.) Take the second bag and remove the sealed edge as you did with the first bag. Also cut holes 2 inches apart to thread the plastic tape through. Do not cut the bag down the side because it is going to be the skirt. Cut 2 strips off of open end of the third bag. Snip this strip at the side to make a plastic tape. Thread one of these into each of the plastic bags. Okay, at this point you have a skirt and a cape. Now, to fray the plastic, just make random cuts into the plastic on both the skirt and the cape. Make all kinds of zigzag type cuts just to look torn and used. Your child can wear a black or stained-up top under the cape. Add some eye makeup in green and brown hues to make her look soiled and old. Place a hat upon her head and she's off and ready for trick-or-treating, or a party.

Tips: This works well for those rainy Halloween trick-or-treat sessions because your child has the plastic to protect her from the wind and rain.
