Video Time Capsule
If you like this idea, you'll want to begin as early as possible your child's first birthday would be the perfect time.
Materials
- Video camera
- Videotape

- If you have access to a video camera, consider making a videotape of your child on each birthday throughout his childhood. Beginning with his first birthday (if you can), spend a couple of minutes taping him sitting, crawling, standing, walking, or doing whatever stage he happens to be in. If you like, show his room, his favorite toys and books, and so on.
- As the years progress and your child becomes more vocal, ask him questions about his favorite foods, songs, activities, friends, and so on. Ask your child what he is looking forward to over the year, and what he expects life to be like next year on his birthday.
- When the segment is complete, put the tape away and don't tape on it until next year's birthday. If doing this for more than one child, use a different tape for each, but use the tape only for the time capsule.
- Years down the road you'll be able to watch your child grow up on his video time capsule.
