Car Washing and Detailing

Materials

  • Plastic bucket
  • Detergent
  • Wool mitt or soft sponge
  • Chamois cloth (optional)
  • Towels
  • Window cleaner
  • Soft cloths
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Vinyl cleaner (optional)
  • Toothbrushes
Directions

  1. Close all windows and doors after making sure the hand brake is on.
  2. Rinse exterior of car with water and remove caked mud and dirt with a soft brush.
  3. Follow directions on car soap container or pour a few drops of detergent onto damp mitt or sponge.
  4. Soap and rinse the car a section at a time, starting with the rooftop and ending with the tires.
  5. Towel dry and then buff with chamois.
  6. Vacuum the inside floor coverings and seats.
  7. Wipe the vinyl with cleaner or a damp cloth.
  8. Clean windows, dials, and mirrors.
  9. Use toothbrushes to clean small, narrow spaces.
  10. Use a dry cloth to shine the chrome.
  11. Charge extra for waxing and polishing.
Note: At family functions or parties at your home, ask if you can wash cars while the owners are visiting. Have plenty of supplies on hand, especially towels and cloths.
