Flower and Leaf Prints

Materials

  1. Fresh flowers and leaves
  2. Unbleached muslin cloth
  3. Paper bags or butcher paper
  4. Hammer

Directions

Cover a table with paper bags or butcher paper. Spread out the fabric on top. Arrange the leaves and flowers in a design on half of the fabric. Fold the fabric so that the blank half is on top of the leaves and flowers. Feel where the flower and leaf outlines are against the fabric. Use a hammer and pound on the top of the leaves and flowers until the color has bled through the fabric. Make sure to go all the way to the edges or you will get a color with no shape. Open the fabric and scrape or peel off the plant residue. Experiment with which flowers work best. Use the fabric to make a pillow, place mat, bag, apron, or gift tags.
