Read Me a Story

Time

  • 10 to 15 minutes

Materials

  • Storybook

Directions

  1. Invite your child to select a favorite storybook to "read" to you.
  2. Go through each page together and listen to her version, which may be quite close to the actual words. Your attention and appreciation will make your child feel both competent and important.

Extensions

  • Before turning a page, see if your child can remember what happens next.
  • Go back through the book again and work together to make changes to the story so that it becomes a kinder story.
