Make Room for Reading Fun!
by Christine Dvornik
Getting kids to want to read can be tough -- but getting them to play games is a piece of cake! Reading activities can turn a book into an afternoon of fun. Here are some great ideas to do with your little monsters as you read Where the Wild Things Are, by Shel Silverstein.
- Have your kids draw a picture of their favorite character in the story, then print out this picture frame to use for it's display on the fridge.
- The best way to get your kids interested in a story is to make them the main character! Get some great story telling ideas on starring your child in their next story.
- Pack your bags, it's time to visit the Wild Things! Have your child pretend that he's going on the journey that Max takes in the story. Get out your childs suitcase and have him pack everything he'd bring along. If he happens to throw in something interesting (like a snorkel) ask him what he's going to do with it. Try to get the creativity flowing.
You can pack a bag too. If you want to take it a step further, go on a real journey -- the land of the Wild Things could be grandma's house!Add a Comment (0)More on: Great Reads for Kids
