Dad Is Fat
By Jim Gaffigan
If you find the title offensive, you may not want to pick up this book. But it's emerging as this summer's must-read, lighthearted autobiography (along the lines of Tina Fey's Bossypants and Bill Cosby's Fatherhood). It's written from the perspective of the stand-up-comedian-turned-father-of-five and is chock full of funny self-deprecation and relatable anecdotes. Gaffigan observes that cousins are like "celebrities for little kids," and toddlers who are beginning to talk in sentences "always sound like they have traveled by horseback for hours to deliver important news." So true!
