Thankful Board
by Steve Bennett
Ages: 8 to 12
Materials:
- Posterboard
- index cards
- markers and crayons
- double-stick tape or glue stick
Directions:
Find out what your family members are thankful for with this easy activity. Before your family get-together, ask your kids to draw the outlines of index cards ( 4" x 6" or 3" x 5") on a large poster board. They can decorate the outlines and the areas surrounding them using crayons, markers, and paints. There should be one index card outline for each person who's sharing the holidays with you.
When guests arrive, your kids hand them index cards, and ask them to write down the one thing for which they're the most grateful. Each of your kids should fill out their own index cards -- and perhaps cards for family pets, too.
After the get-together, your kids attach the index cards to the appropriate poster board outlines with double stick tape or a glue stick.
What better way to remember why you should be grateful this season -- and preserve the memory of great family times!
